Happy New Year Everyone! Happy 2009! I hope everyone had a good time celebrating.
Ok, so maybe it's been more than a year since I had updated this. There are a few other projects that I have started, some I had finished, and some... well, that I haven't touched for a long time but would like to finish it (or undo them completely). Here's the first of the newly made projects:
Children's Cotton Hat
Light blue (blue-white) New Bernat Satin yarn
Finished measurements:
Height: 4 1/4 inches, with brim rolled
Circumference: Approximately 15-16 inches
Source: Last Minute Knitted Gifts
Started on Tuesday, 20 December 2008. Completed on Thursday, 1 January 2009.
This project here is something I've always wanted to make. It's got this cute, edge-rolled knitted hat with the I-cord brilliantly implemented into the design. When my trigonometry teacher announced that she was pregnant back in October, I thought, wow, congratulations. Back then, I hadn't even thought to make something for her and her unborn kid but to watch her tummy grow a few centimeters each time we met, even more-so after Thanksgiving. As Christmas grew even closer, I began to think of knitting something useful that she could have her baby use, but what? Well, I thought it was early enough to knit something small, something quick and fairly easy. I have gone and looked into my book. A stuffed animal? Perhaps-- it's listed under as a 6-8 hour project, but knowing how slow of a knitter I can be sometimes, it can take me weeks to finish, not within a matter of days, or hours. (Look at that pair of grey leg warmers I haven't finished for over a year and it's still not finished!) Some baby booties, a child's hat, and a bonnet looks useful. Why not a child's cotton hat and some baby booties? Perfect!

*sigh*
It's inevitable. I had to drop a class earlier this week and it's math. (Some of you probably might have known if I told you personally) The other class, I just assume that I'll have to make a great deal of improvement in order to get a passing grade, so I didn't bother to drop, only because I have somewhat a great deal of knowledge in the course, it's just that I just keep procrastinating, and didn't make enough effort, as my teacher pointed out. Yea, that's true, which made me realise how arrogant I can get sometimes when I have knowledge in a certain subject or area. I suppose knowledge can make you can that way, can it?
I dunno when I'll resume my project, but I do hope it's soon. Hopefully I can restart it during the Thanksgiving Holiday. Hopefully.

Holy smokes!
Admittedly, I haven't been knitting these last couple of days. School, of course. I had just checked my grades this morning and I had fared worse than I thought.
My two one-unit music courses has fared quite well, as usual, considering they were only performance. PE yoga is... meh, but I'm not overly concerned about it. Astronomy, is going quite well as expected, but I'll need to work harder to earn that A. However, both my 5 and 4 unit classes are in a pile in D's and F's, and I cannot understand how to please that chinese teacher of mine (she's even scary at times), but I completely understand that I have to study harder for math (last two tests weren't too good, hopefully, I'll get it right this time around). Man, I need to talk to those two, and see to it that I take advice of withdrawing them or not. I still have until next Tuesday to do so.
Crap ('scuse my language), it looks like I'll have to put off my projects on hold until I either get them right or put them off until the end of the semester. I think it's safer to put them off until after the Finals.
There is no freakin way am I gonna withdraw those two! I REFUSE TO DO SO! Please.....

Hmmm...
Project 1
The first of the pair is going as well as I hoped. I've knitted about six times the amount over the weekend than I usually do; I usually knit about 5 rows a day on average on the project. Soon, it'll reach 100 rows, hopefully by Halloween. By then I expect to start on the other one soon, as well as the wrist warmers.
Project 3:
Collar scarf (or whatever that's called. Project from LMG)
Deep blue yarn
Needle size 5
Yarn size 4
Start Date: Around May or June 2007
Okay, I've started this project in the beginning of my summer, or probably during the remaining days of my Spring semester when finals and semester-end concerts ruled the campus atmosphere. I've stopped working on this project for awhile simply because of the spring finals and then again when I was working on the book readings and quizzes for my online classes, so I haven't gotten very far. Plus, I was distracted by other things: finishing up a scarf before the Spring Concert before the finals for my cello and orchestra/strings instructor's retirement gift (even though I find him quite irritable, but I still respect him anyways. In my opinion, most teachers gain my respect as long as they don't offend me or always getting on my nerves (attempting to frighten me because I did something wrong is a big no-no; however, helping me out is a big plus; it makes me respect them even more), playing Animal on my DS, and surfing the net. Hopefully, I would resume this project. It would be nice to have try out how this collar thing works.
Oops, look at the time! It's just over 11 at night, and I should be finishing up my homework now before I go to sleep! Good night.

The knitting projects begin!
GRedphoenix's first knitting project:
Leg warmers (Project from Last Minute Gifts by Joelle Hoverson and Anna Williams. It will now be known as Last Minute or LMG)
Silvery gray yarn
Circular needles: 5.5
Yarn size 4
Started: Wednesday, 17 of October 2007
I've once knitted a pair of leg warmers last year, but that was only because my mom requested for one as her old ones lost their elasticity.
I've decided to knit up a pair of because I felt that the weather's been getting really chilly here in foggy 'ol San Francisco, especially when cycling to school in shorts.
Unfortunately, much of my wardrobe is composed of jeans and shorts. Only a few of them are sweats, but they can sometimes get too hot and uncomfortable, especially when the weather gets quite finiky (I swear I don't know how I got a pair of bubblegum-pink sweats-- too bright for my taste.) and I don't have much shorts that goes past the knees. Now if only I have more of those nice loose pants... I've already attempted to cycle in long-sleeved jeans, especially the soft-clothed version of them, but unfortunately, they don't allow much comfort for movement.
I'm sure some of you fellow cyclists know this fact.
Second Project:
Wrist/hand warmers (Project from LMG)
Silvery gray yarn
Yarn size 4
Date started: To be determined
I've made several of these pairs last summer (Summer '06), one for myself, and two others for friends, one to not only give as thanks for the ride to Zephyr Point in Lake Tahoe to but also as a farewell present because she was moving from SF to her daughter's place in Oregon by the end of that summer. The other one was for her month-early birthday present. I gave both these warmers at the end of our summer music camp in July that summer, especially to the birthday girl before we were able to see other in school again.
I'm making another pair of warmers for myself because I can't seem to find my old pair. I really do hate it when my fingers freeze up when I attempt a scale (or a run) on my violin (or a piano, or a cello).
Now where did that lavendar pair go? Hm, it needs some repairs anyway.

Hello all!
Welcome to Goldenredphoenix's Blog! (Or GRedphoenix for short-- I know it's long >_>)
My name's Diana. I've attempted to blog several times, but I've always ended up abandoning efforts due to lack of interest. Well, hopefully, my interest will stay. For good.
This time, I'm hoping to focus on blogging about my knitting projects.
